Ok, that may not be 100% true as being a referee is still a hard job, but we think that we have made becoming a referee a little easier.

Starting this year becoming a Level 1 referee involves three stages.

Stage 1: Complete a 4–6 hour online referee course

To access the course send an email with your name, address, phone number, date of birth and current club to carock28@gmail.com.

You will also need to pay a $20 registration fee to IHNZ via bank account:
# 12-3152-0082141- 02

Once payment is confirmed you will be sent the link for the course. The course does not have to be completed in one sitting, so you can complete it at your convenience. It is recommended that the course be done on a computer, laptop or large tablet if possible.

Stage 2: Attend a 2-3 hour in-person clinic

Clinics will be hosted at various IHNZ sanctioned tournaments through-out New Zealand. First clinic will be at Bauer Cup. Exact clinic dates and time to follow.

Stage 3: Referee Games

You will need to have 2 written evaluations, meeting expectations, completed by a senior referee.
You will also need to have at least one written evaluation completed in season and in each subsequent season.
