New Board Members Announced

It is with great pleasure that the Board Appointment Panel announce the new IHNZ Board Members!

This has been a very long and intensive process, and it has been very challenging to narrow down the list of such excellent applicants. We had more than double the number of applicants than available positions. We want to thank everyone who applied so admirably - it has been extremely heartwarming to see the passion and dedication that exists in this sport. Everyone wants inline hockey to succeed!

The Board Members we have appointed are a strategic combination of non-hockey governance leaders, and skilled hockey members who will act as liaisons from various sectors within the sport. We are confident that the people we have selected will be able to work together positively to shape Inline Hockey’s successful future.

The new IHNZ Board Members are:

  • Asbjorn Jon - Chair - Asbjorn is a change management champion and skilled in managing conflict
  • Joanna Hunter - Treasurer - Joanna is a chartered accountant, and audit and risk specialist
  • Adam Hunt - Independent Board Member - Adam is a governance leader and financial crime expert
  • Jay Jaiganesh - Independent Board Member - Jay is a governance diversity leader, also sitting on Youth and Women’s Boards.
  • Chris Morgan - Hockey Liaison Role - Chris has change management governance skills, as well as events and marketing expertise
  • Shaun King - Hockey Liaison Role - Shaun is focused on growth and development through effective communication and leadership
  • Josh Lawrence - Hockey Liaison Role - Josh is skilled in project management and effective communication

Additionally, we will be recommending that the board focuses on governance, and utilises operational teams for active projects such as marketing, social media, new constitution input communication with members, inline hockey in schools, and other types of progressive activities needed to grow the sport.

Our next steps:

  • we are announcing the Board members today
  • these are pending independent reference checks and background checks, which can take some time
  • we would like to set an SGM date (to be advised), where the Board Appointment Panel can explain our processes in more detail, and each of the Board Members can introduce themselves
  • the new Board will be established formally in the next few days and then they can begin their transformation process to revitalise IHNZ.

We look forward to introducing everyone soon once we work out an SGM date.

Kind regards

Belinda, Ian and Toby
